Hello and welcome to the Weekly Art Challenge page!

The Weekly Art Challenge is a group of people who create and share their art each week. The goal is to have fun and create art each and every week while holding each other accountable, cheering each other on, and giving to a great cause.

History

The idea of the Weekly Art Challenge happened when me and a great friend simply agreed that we both missed creating art. Since January of 2020, we have both contributed close to 100 drawings, and have recently grown the group to 15 individuals who continue to make art every week.

Evolution

Completing a drawing every week is difficult and takes dedication and sometimes accountability to keep going. As more people started joining, we wanted to find a beneficial way to hold everyone accountable while still having fun. A drawing theme is chosen by one of the members every week and each person needs to submit a piece by the following Sunday. If a piece is submitted late, that member owes $3 to the donation pot, if the piece isn’t submitted at all, they owe $5 to a general fund. 100% of these proceeds are donated to The Dreaming Zebra Foundation at the end of the month.

“The Dreaming Zebra® Foundation was incorporated in Portland, Oregon in the interest of promoting greater access to the arts for children and young adults. Our founders recognized a pressing need in many communities for the promotion of charitable donations of art and music supplies to support individuals, schools, and other nonprofit organizations serving youth and the arts.”

We are excited to continue creating art and donating what we can to such an incredible foundation.

To keep on drawing, making music, dancing, and creating art! However, we want to see more pieces.
